About the Graphic Novel

“Chicken Outfit” is a graphic novel currently in development by Joe Deagnon and Kirby Stasyna.

The book concerns a group of under-paid porn company employees toiling in a virtual sweat shop run by a maniacal boss and his dog-like cronies. It explores the dreary routine of this unlikely band of programmers and designers as they do whatever it takes to sell hardcore content to the lustful Internet rabble. At first, the wads of money, sex, booze and drugs seem to be enough to satisfy their questions of self worth and integrity and as they dive head first into this filthy business of greed, manipulation and self gratification.

Blinded by their own new found need for excess and a bottomless internet connection, they soon discover their souls are being sucked dry and not just by the job they’ve foolishly shackled themselves to, but by a force more sinister than anything they could ever imagine. The gang is thrust into a life or death battle with their own demons while trying to discover the truth that has been hiding from the real world behind the blue-green glow of their workstation monitors.

We are currently working day and night on this project at the Chicken Outfit offices, and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready. Thank you for visiting our site, and check our dev blog regularly, where you’ll find some of our chicken strip comics, updates about our progress, notes, sketches and more. We hope you are looking forward to this full-length tale of horror, sci-fi, sex, relationships, money, greed, cyber-life, and live bait. It is perhaps something that the world has never seen before.

About the name “Chicken Outfit”

During the development of this project, we asked many people about the term “chicken outfit” and what it means. We were mostly met with blank stares and crusty melon scratching until Joe finally went to his Grandfather, who gave us a historical description that matched the one we had in mind when titling the comic.

He explained that the phrase “Get me out of this chicken outfit” goes back at least as far as World War II, when a competent soldier was put into a platoon of inexperienced, green and incompetent cowards. From this description, the phrase “Chicken Outfit has come to refer to any group of people who are completely inept, gutless or ineffectual.
